Manny Pacquiao open to Conor McGregor fight, but Dana White shuts it down

Dana White immediately shut down the idea of a Pacquiao vs. McGregor boxing match, citing Pacquiao’s relationship with Bob Arum.

The recent buzz surrounding a potential boxing showdown between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor has spurred several other boxers to challenge the Irishman.

Former boxing champion Ricardo Mayorga called out ‘The Notorious’ on twitter, and even heavyweight legend Evander Holyfield said he’d ‘squash’ the UFC lightweight champion for $25 million.

Manny Pacquiao is the latest boxer to throw his name into the mix and, while the Filipino didn’t exactly call out McGregor, he said he’s more than open to a boxing mega-fight with the MMA star.

“If McGregor will fight me in boxing, why not? But not in MMA. MMA is much different than boxing,” Pacquiao’s spokesperson said on behalf of the 38-year-old, per Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports.

FC president Dana White, however, has no interest in the fight due to ‘Pac Man’s’ relationship with boxing promoter Bob Arum.

“Listen, I love Manny Pacquiao,” White told Yahoo! Sports. “But I don’t love Bob Arum. You can tell Arum to save his money and not make any calls over here because we aren’t doing business with him.”

White, the UFC’s longtime head promoter, offered Mayweather $25 million to fight McGregor in a boxing match on a UFC card, but ‘Money’ scoffed at the idea and cited some of his previous paychecks.

Pacquiao, a multiple boxing world champion, is currently gearing up for his 68th professional fight. The fan favorite will defend his WBO welterweight title against the undefeated Jeff Horn on April 22.
