“Pacquiao at his age , which is sad, has to fight,” Mayweather said after his fight with Logan Paul.

Manny Pacquiao has hit back at criticism from Floyd Mayweather.

Mayweather and Pacquiao fought back in 2015 when Mayweather – now 44 – won by decision against the Filipino.

While Mayweather retired in 2017 with an unbeaten record and a 50th professional victory over UFC fighter Conor McGregor, the Filipino, 42, continued to fight while building up a political career back in his home country.

‘Money’ has continued to entertain and earn in exhibition fights, but Pacquiao remains a professional and next fights on August 21 against IBF and WBC welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr.

“Pacquiao at his age , which is sad, has to fight,” Mayweather said after his fight with Logan Paul.

“I’m financially set, and I want to make everybody hear this. You’re going to hear a lot of people say ‘Floyd needed to do this’, no, I’m well off.

“Every property that I have is paid for, my jet is paid for, all my cars are paid for, I own billion-dollar buildings, I own so much property, I’ve steadily invested in many different things. I’m invested in the tech world, I’ve made a lot of smart investments.”

Pacquiao has now spoken to Power & Play, and reported his retort to his erstwhile rival.

“If I’m fighting for the money, then I would have picked some scrub to fight,” Pacquiao said.

“Why would I try to fight an undefeated fighter if I’m chasing the paycheck? This is a real fight. I fight because this is my passion. I love beating undefeated fighters and bringing honor to my country.

“I’m not like some other guys who are in it just for the money. Some other fighters challenge non-boxers just to get paid. I want to fight. I want to challenge the best.”
